St. William of York
St. William of York was an English bishop born around 1090. He became the Bishop of York in 1141 but faced opposition and was exiled due to political conflicts. After his return, he worked to restore the church and its properties until his death in 1154.
William was canonized as a saint in 1170, and his feast day is celebrated on June 8. He is often associated with the York Minster, the cathedral in York, where he is venerated. His life reflects the challenges faced by church leaders during the turbulent medieval period in England.
