St. Wenceslaus
St. Wenceslaus, also known as Wenceslaus I, was a Duke of Bohemia in the early 10th century. He is celebrated as a patron saint of the Czech Republic and is known for his efforts to promote Christianity in the region. His reign was marked by conflicts with pagan tribes and internal family struggles.
Wenceslaus was murdered in 935 AD, which led to his veneration as a martyr. His feast day is celebrated on September 28, and he is often depicted in art wearing royal attire and holding a banner. The famous Christmas carol "Good King Wenceslas" is inspired by his legacy.
