St. Thomas the Apostle, also known as Saint Thomas, was one of the twelve disciples of Jesus Christ. He is often remembered for his initial doubt about Jesus' resurrection, which earned him the nickname "Doubting Thomas." According to the New Testament, he later proclaimed his faith upon seeing the risen Christ, saying, "My Lord and my God."
Thomas is traditionally believed to have traveled to India to spread the teachings of Christianity, where he is credited with founding several churches. His feast day is celebrated on July 3 in the Western Christian tradition and on December 21 in the Eastern Orthodox Church.
