St. Swithun
St. Swithun was a 9th-century Anglo-Saxon bishop of Winchester, known for his piety and dedication to the Christian faith. He became the patron saint of Winchester and is often associated with various miracles attributed to his intercession. His feast day is celebrated on July 15.
According to legend, St. Swithun's weather predictions were linked to his feast day. It is said that if it rains on July 15, it will continue to rain for 40 days, while clear weather indicates a dry spell. This belief has led to the popular saying, "St. Swithun's Day, if thou dost rain, for forty days it will remain."
