St. John Neumann
St. John Neumann was a 19th-century Catholic bishop known for his dedication to education and the establishment of parochial schools in the United States. Born in 1811 in Bohemia, he immigrated to America in 1836 and became a priest in New York. He later served as the fourth bishop of Philadelphia, where he worked tirelessly to improve the Catholic education system.
Neumann was canonized as a saint by Pope Paul VI in 1977, recognizing his contributions to the Church and his commitment to serving the community. He is the first American bishop to be declared a saint and is celebrated for his deep faith and pastoral care.
