St. John Vianney
St. John Vianney was a French priest born on May 8, 1786, in Dardilly, France. He is best known for his dedication to the pastoral care of his parishioners in the small village of Ars. Vianney became famous for his deep spirituality, commitment to confession, and ability to guide people in their faith.
He was canonized as a saint by Pope Pius XI in 1925 and is recognized as the patron saint of parish priests. His feast day is celebrated on August 4. St. John Vianney's life and work continue to inspire many in the Catholic Church today.
