St. Bede
St. Bede, also known as Bede the Venerable, was an English monk, historian, and theologian who lived during the 7th and 8th centuries. He is best known for his work, Ecclesiastical History of the English People, which provides a detailed account of the early history of Christianity in England. Bede's writings were influential in shaping the understanding of English history and culture.
Bede was born in 673 AD in Northumbria and spent most of his life at the Monastery of Jarrow. He was a prolific scholar, writing on various subjects, including theology, science, and poetry. His contributions to the development of the English language and historical writing earned him the title of "Father of English History." Bede was canonized as a saint in 1899.
