St. Aldhelm
St. Aldhelm was an Anglo-Saxon bishop and scholar, born around 639 AD in Wessex, England. He is best known for his role as the first bishop of Sherborne and for his contributions to early English literature, particularly in the form of poetry and prose. Aldhelm was educated at the famous monastery of Malmesbury, where he became a prominent figure in the Christian community.
Aldhelm is also recognized for his efforts in promoting the Christian faith and education among the Anglo-Saxons. He was a key figure in the establishment of monastic life in Wessex and is often credited with helping to spread the teachings of Christianity in the region. His feast day is celebrated on May 25th.
