Sri Vikrama Rajasinha
Sri Vikrama Rajasinha was the last king of the Kingdom of Kandy in Sri Lanka. He ruled from 1798 until 1815 and is known for his efforts to maintain the independence of his kingdom during a time of increasing British influence in the region. His reign was marked by internal strife and challenges from both local factions and foreign powers.
In 1815, Sri Vikrama Rajasinha was deposed by the British, leading to the annexation of the Kingdom of Kandy and the end of the monarchy in Sri Lanka. His rule is often remembered for its cultural contributions, including the promotion of Sinhalese arts and literature, despite the political turmoil of his time.
