Sri Lankan Languages
Sri Lanka is home to two official languages: Sinhala and Tamil. Sinhala is spoken by the majority of the population, primarily by the Sinhalese ethnic group, while Tamil is mainly used by the Tamil ethnic community. Both languages have rich literary traditions and are integral to the country's cultural identity.
In addition to these official languages, English is widely used in government, business, and education. It serves as a link language among different ethnic groups and is often taught in schools. The linguistic diversity reflects Sri Lanka's multicultural society and its historical influences.
