Sinhala
Sinhala is an Indo-Aryan language primarily spoken in Sri Lanka. It is the mother tongue of the majority ethnic group in the country, the Sinhalese, and serves as one of the official languages alongside Tamil.
The language has a rich literary history, with texts dating back over two thousand years. Sinhala is written in its own script, which evolved from the ancient Brahmi script. It plays a crucial role in the cultural identity of the Sinhalese people and is used in various forms of media, education, and government.
