Spicebush
Spicebush, scientifically known as Lindera benzoin, is a deciduous shrub native to the eastern United States. It typically grows between 6 to 12 feet tall and features aromatic leaves that release a pleasant scent when crushed. The plant produces small yellow flowers in early spring, followed by red berries in the fall, which are enjoyed by various birds.
This shrub thrives in moist, shaded areas and is often found in forests and along stream banks. Spicebush is also known for its role in traditional medicine, where its leaves and berries have been used for their potential health benefits.
