Spanish ibex
The Spanish ibex, or Iberian ibex, is a wild goat species native to the mountainous regions of the Iberian Peninsula in Spain and Portugal. It is known for its impressive curved horns, which can grow up to 1 meter long in males. The species is well-adapted to steep, rocky terrains, allowing it to navigate its habitat with agility.
Spanish ibex are herbivores, primarily feeding on grasses, shrubs, and other vegetation. They live in social groups, often consisting of females and their young, while males tend to be more solitary, especially outside the breeding season. Conservation efforts have been implemented to protect their populations, which have faced threats from habitat loss and hunting.
