Southernmost Point of India
The Southernmost Point of India is located on the island of Indira Point in the Nicobar Islands. It is situated at a latitude of 6°45′10″N and is part of the Great Nicobar Island. This point marks the southern tip of the Indian territory and is surrounded by the Indian Ocean.
Indira Point was named after Indira Gandhi, the first female Prime Minister of India. It is a significant geographical landmark, although it was partially submerged after the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami.
