South Tower
The South Tower, also known as the South Tower of the World Trade Center, was one of the two main towers in the original World Trade Center complex in New York City. Completed in 1976, it stood at 1,362 feet tall and had 47 floors. The tower was primarily used for office space and housed various businesses and government agencies.
On September 11, 2001, the South Tower was struck by American Airlines Flight 175 during a terrorist attack. The impact and subsequent fires led to its collapse at 9:59 AM, just 56 minutes after being hit. This tragic event is part of the larger narrative surrounding the September 11 attacks and the World Trade Center.
