South Carolina State House
The South Carolina State House is the seat of government for the state of South Carolina. Located in Columbia, it houses the offices of the Governor and the state legislature, which includes the Senate and the House of Representatives. The building is known for its distinctive dome, which is topped with a statue called the Golden Girl.
Constructed between 1855 and 1907, the State House features a blend of architectural styles, primarily Greek Revival and Neoclassical. The grounds are adorned with monuments and memorials, including those honoring Confederate soldiers and notable figures in South Carolina's history.
