Sophomore
A "sophomore" is a term used in the United States to describe a student in their second year of high school or college. The word comes from the Greek words "sophos," meaning wise, and "moros," meaning foolish, reflecting the idea that students have gained some knowledge but still have much to learn.
In high school, sophomores typically range from ages 15 to 16. They often take more advanced courses compared to their freshman year and begin to prepare for standardized tests like the SAT or ACT for college admissions.
