Somatic fibers
Somatic fibers are a type of nerve fiber that transmit sensory and motor information between the body and the central nervous system. They are responsible for conveying sensations such as touch, pain, and temperature from the skin and muscles to the brain. Additionally, somatic fibers control voluntary movements by sending signals from the brain to skeletal muscles.
These fibers are part of the peripheral nervous system, which connects the central nervous system to the limbs and organs. Somatic fibers can be classified into two main categories: afferent fibers, which carry sensory information to the brain, and efferent fibers, which relay motor commands from the brain to the muscles.
