Somali ostrich
The Somali ostrich is a large flightless bird native to the Horn of Africa, particularly found in Somalia, Ethiopia, and Kenya. It is characterized by its long neck, powerful legs, and distinctive plumage, which is typically grayish-brown. This species is adapted to arid and semi-arid environments, where it forages for seeds, fruits, and insects.
Somali ostriches are known for their impressive speed, capable of running up to 45 miles per hour. They are social animals, often found in groups, and play a vital role in their ecosystem by helping to disperse seeds. Their population is currently threatened by habitat loss and hunting.
