Soma (Mythology)
In ancient Indian mythology, Soma is both a deity and a sacred drink. The drink is believed to confer immortality and is often associated with the Vedic texts, where it is described as a source of inspiration and divine knowledge. Soma is also linked to the moon, symbolizing its life-giving properties.
The Soma plant, thought to be a hallucinogenic herb, was used in rituals and sacrifices by the Aryans. Its preparation involved extracting juice from the plant, which was then consumed during religious ceremonies to connect with the divine and enhance spiritual experiences.
