Solomonic Dynasty
The Solomonic Dynasty was a royal lineage in Ethiopia that claimed descent from the biblical figure King Solomon and the Queen of Sheba. This dynasty ruled Ethiopia from the 13th century until the overthrow of Emperor Haile Selassie in 1974. The Solomonic rulers were known for their efforts to modernize the country and promote Ethiopian Orthodox Christianity.
The dynasty played a significant role in shaping Ethiopia's national identity and culture. It was marked by notable emperors, such as Menelik II, who successfully defended Ethiopia against colonial powers at the Battle of Adwa in 1896. The Solomonic Dynasty is also associated with the rich traditions of Ethiopian art, music, and literature.
