Solar Heliospheric Observatory
The Solar Heliospheric Observatory (SOHO) is a spacecraft launched in 1995 to study the Sun and its influence on the solar system. It is a joint project of the European Space Agency (ESA) and NASA. SOHO continuously observes the Sun, providing valuable data on solar activity, including solar flares and coronal mass ejections.
SOHO's instruments help scientists understand the Sun's structure and behavior, which is crucial for predicting space weather events that can affect satellites, communication systems, and power grids on Earth. The observatory has significantly advanced our knowledge of the solar wind and the Sun's magnetic field.
