Soeharto
Soeharto was an Indonesian military general and politician who served as the second President of Indonesia from 1967 to 1998. He came to power after a coup that led to the downfall of President Sukarno. Soeharto's regime was marked by significant economic growth, but also by widespread corruption and human rights abuses.
During his presidency, Soeharto implemented policies that promoted industrialization and foreign investment, which helped improve the country's economy. However, his government faced criticism for its authoritarian rule and suppression of political dissent. Soeharto resigned in 1998 amid a financial crisis and public protests, leading to a transition towards democracy in Indonesia.
