B.J. Habibie
B.J. Habibie was an Indonesian engineer and politician who served as the third President of Indonesia from 1998 to 1999. Born on June 25, 1936, in Parepare, he studied aerospace engineering in Germany and became known for his contributions to the country's aviation industry. He played a significant role in developing the Nurtanio aircraft and was instrumental in promoting technology and education in Indonesia.
After the fall of President Suharto, Habibie took office during a transitional period. His presidency was marked by political reform and the introduction of democratic processes, including the first free elections in Indonesia. He stepped down in 1999 but remained an influential figure in Indonesian politics and technology.
