Snow Monkeys
Snow monkeys, also known as Japanese macaques, are a species of primate native to Japan. They are famous for their thick fur, which helps them survive in cold climates, particularly in the snowy regions of Honshu and Shikoku. These monkeys are social animals, living in troops that can consist of up to 100 individuals.
One of the most notable behaviors of snow monkeys is their use of hot springs, or onsen, during winter months. They are often seen soaking in the warm water to keep warm and relax. This unique behavior has made them a popular attraction at Jigokudani Monkey Park, where visitors can observe them in their natural habitat.
