Japanese macaques
Japanese macaques, also known as snow monkeys, are a species of primate native to Japan. They are easily recognized by their thick fur, which helps them survive in cold climates, especially in the northern regions. These monkeys are social animals, living in groups called troops, which can consist of up to 100 individuals.
Japanese macaques are known for their intelligence and adaptability. They often forage for food in various environments, including forests and mountainous areas. One unique behavior is their habit of bathing in hot springs during winter, which helps them stay warm and socialize with other members of their troop.
