Snares penguin
The Snares penguin is a medium-sized penguin species native to the Snares Islands, located off the southern coast of New Zealand. It is characterized by its distinctive yellow-orange crest and black and white plumage. These penguins primarily feed on small fish and squid, which they catch while swimming in the ocean.
Snares penguins are known for their strong nesting habits, often building nests in dense vegetation. They typically breed from late September to December, laying one or two eggs. Due to their limited range and specific habitat requirements, they are considered vulnerable to environmental changes and human activities.
