The Yellow-Eyed Penguin, known scientifically as *Megadyptes antipodes*, is a unique species native to New Zealand. It is easily recognized by its distinctive yellow eyes and the yellow band that runs from its eyes around the back of its head. This penguin is one of the rarest in the world, primarily inhabiting coastal forests and grasslands. These penguins are medium-sized, typically standing about 65 cm tall and weighing between 3 to 6 kg. They are known for their solitary behavior, often nesting in secluded areas. The Yellow-Eyed Penguin primarily feeds on fish and squid, foraging in the ocean during the day.
