Slave Dynasty
The "Slave Dynasty" refers to a series of rulers in the Delhi Sultanate from the late 12th to the early 13th century. Founded by Qutb al-Din Aibak, a former slave who became a general, this dynasty marked the beginning of Muslim rule in northern India. The dynasty is known for its architectural contributions, including the Qutub Minar.
The Slave Dynasty consisted of several rulers, including Iltutmish and Raziya Sultana, the first female ruler of the Sultanate. This period was characterized by the consolidation of power, expansion of territory, and the establishment of a distinct Indo-Islamic culture.
