Sistan Desert
The Sistan Desert is a vast arid region located in southeastern Iran and southwestern Afghanistan. It is part of the larger Dasht-e Kavir desert system and is characterized by its dry climate, sparse vegetation, and shifting sand dunes. The desert experiences extreme temperatures, with scorching heat during the day and cooler nights.
This desert is also known for its unique geological features, including salt flats and seasonal wetlands. The Hamun wetlands, located at the desert's edge, are crucial for local wildlife and provide a habitat for various bird species. Despite its harsh conditions, the Sistan Desert holds cultural significance for the communities that inhabit its borders.
