Sirisena
Maithripala Sirisena is a Sri Lankan politician who served as the President of Sri Lanka from January 2015 to November 2019. He was a member of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party and held various ministerial positions before becoming president. His election marked a significant political shift in the country, as he defeated the incumbent president, Mahinda Rajapaksa.
During his presidency, Sirisena focused on anti-corruption measures, economic reforms, and national reconciliation following the civil war. His tenure faced challenges, including economic difficulties and security issues, particularly after the 2019 Easter bombings, which impacted his popularity and led to his defeat in the subsequent election.
