Maithripala Sirisena
Maithripala Sirisena is a Sri Lankan politician who served as the President of Sri Lanka from January 2015 to November 2019. He was a member of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party and held various ministerial positions before becoming president, including Minister of Health. Sirisena came to power after defeating the incumbent president, Mahinda Rajapaksa, in a closely contested election.
During his presidency, Sirisena focused on anti-corruption measures, economic development, and reconciliation following the civil war in Sri Lanka. His administration faced challenges, including economic issues and security concerns, particularly after the 2019 Easter bombings. After his term, he did not seek re-election.
