Sir Henry Knyvet
Sir Henry Knyvet was an English courtier and politician during the late 16th and early 17th centuries. He is best known for his role in the Gunpowder Plot of 1605, where he was one of the key figures who discovered the conspiracy to blow up the House of Lords and assassinate King James I. His actions led to the arrest of several conspirators, including Guy Fawkes.
Knyvet was born around 1560 and served in various official capacities, including as a Member of Parliament. He was knighted in 1603 and held the position of Lieutenant of the Tower of London. His legacy is primarily tied to his involvement in thwarting the Gunpowder Plot, which had significant implications for English history.
