Sipan archaeological site
The Sipan archaeological site is located in northern Peru and is known for its significant discoveries related to the Moche civilization. Excavated in the late 1980s, the site features a series of large burial mounds, or huacas, that contain elaborate tombs filled with artifacts, including pottery, jewelry, and textiles.
One of the most notable finds at Sipan is the tomb of the Lord of Sipan, a high-ranking Moche leader. This burial site revealed a wealth of treasures and has provided valuable insights into the social structure, art, and religious practices of the Moche people, making Sipan a key site for understanding ancient Andean cultures.
