Simplified Chinese Characters
Simplified Chinese Characters are a version of the Chinese writing system that uses fewer strokes than traditional characters. They were developed in the 20th century to increase literacy and make writing easier. Simplified characters are used mainly in China and Singapore, while Traditional Chinese Characters are still used in Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau.
The simplification process involved reducing the number of strokes in many characters and merging similar ones. This change has made it easier for learners to read and write, contributing to a significant rise in literacy rates in regions where simplified characters are used.
