Silkworms
Silkworms are the larvae of the silk moth, primarily known for producing silk. They are typically raised in controlled environments and feed mainly on the leaves of the mulberry tree. After several molts, they spin a protective cocoon made of silk fibers, which can be harvested for silk production.
The life cycle of a silkworm includes four stages: egg, larva, pupa, and adult moth. Once the silkworms complete their transformation into moths, they emerge from the cocoons, which are often destroyed to collect the silk. This process has been practiced for thousands of years, especially in countries like China and India.
