Sikh Weddings
A Sikh wedding, known as Anand Karaj, is a beautiful ceremony that celebrates the union of two individuals in the presence of family and friends. The ceremony typically takes place in a Gurdwara, a Sikh place of worship, where the couple sits before the Guru Granth Sahib, the holy scripture of Sikhism.
During the wedding, the couple takes four rounds around the Guru Granth Sahib, symbolizing their commitment to each other and their faith. The event is filled with prayers, hymns, and joyful celebrations, often followed by a communal meal called langar, which emphasizes the values of equality and community in Sikh culture.
