Sikh Diaspora
The Sikh Diaspora refers to the communities of Sikhs who have settled outside of their ancestral homeland in Punjab, India. This migration began in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, driven by factors such as economic opportunities, political unrest, and the search for better living conditions. Today, significant Sikh populations can be found in countries like Canada, the United Kingdom, the United States, and Australia.
Sikhs in the diaspora maintain their cultural and religious practices, often establishing Gurdwaras (places of worship) to serve their communities. They contribute to the multicultural fabric of their host countries while preserving their unique identity through festivals, traditions, and community service.
