Siege of Fort Ninety-Six
The Siege of Fort Ninety-Six took place during the American Revolutionary War in 1781. Located in present-day South Carolina, the fort was a strategic British stronghold. American forces, led by Nathanael Greene, aimed to capture the fort to weaken British control in the southern colonies.
The siege lasted from May to June 1781, with American troops surrounding the fort. Despite their efforts, the British, commanded by Lieutenant Colonel Henry Lee, successfully defended the fort. Ultimately, the siege ended without a decisive victory for either side, but it demonstrated the resilience of American forces in their fight for independence.
