Shiveluch
Shiveluch is one of the most active volcanoes in the Kamchatka Peninsula of Russia. It is part of the Kuril-Kamchatka Arc and has two main summits: the larger, active one known as Shiveluch, and the smaller, dormant one called Old Shiveluch. The volcano has a history of eruptions, with significant activity recorded in recent decades.
The eruptions of Shiveluch can produce ash plumes that reach high into the atmosphere, affecting air travel and local communities. Its eruptions are primarily explosive, resulting in pyroclastic flows and lava domes. Monitoring efforts are in place to study its activity and mitigate potential hazards.
