Sherman’s March
"Sherman's March" refers to the military campaign led by Union General William Tecumseh Sherman during the American Civil War from November 15, 1864, to December 21, 1864. The campaign involved a destructive march from Atlanta, Georgia to Savannah, Georgia, aimed at crippling the Confederate war effort by targeting infrastructure, supplies, and civilian morale.
Sherman's forces covered approximately 300 miles, employing a strategy known as "total war." This approach sought to undermine the South's ability to sustain its military operations. The march resulted in significant destruction, including the burning of crops, railroads, and factories, ultimately contributing to the Union's victory in the war.
