Atlanta Campaign
The Atlanta Campaign was a series of military operations during the American Civil War, taking place from May to September 1864. Led by Union General William Tecumseh Sherman, the campaign aimed to capture the strategic city of Atlanta, Georgia, which was a vital supply hub for the Confederate Army.
The campaign involved several battles, including the Battle of Kennesaw Mountain and the Battle of Peachtree Creek. Ultimately, Sherman's forces succeeded in capturing Atlanta on September 2, 1864, significantly boosting Northern morale and contributing to President Abraham Lincoln's re-election.
