Sher Shah Suri
Sher Shah Suri was a prominent ruler in India during the 16th century, known for founding the Suri Empire. He was born in 1486 in Bihar and rose to power after defeating the Mughal Emperor Humayun in 1540. His reign lasted until 1545, during which he implemented significant administrative reforms.
One of Sher Shah's most notable achievements was the establishment of an efficient system of roads, including the famous Grand Trunk Road, which improved trade and communication. He also introduced a standardized currency and a land revenue system, laying the groundwork for future governance in India.
