Shechem
Shechem is an ancient city located in the central region of modern-day Israel. It holds significant historical and religious importance, particularly in the context of the Hebrew Bible. Shechem was the first capital of the northern kingdom of Israel and is known for its association with key biblical figures such as Abraham and Jacob.
The site of Shechem is also notable for its archaeological remains, including the ancient Canaanite city and the nearby Mount Gerizim and Mount Ebal. These mountains are significant in the biblical narrative, as they were the locations where blessings and curses were pronounced to the Israelites. Today, Shechem is identified with the modern town of Nablus.
