Sharp (musical note)
A sharp (♯) is a musical symbol that raises the pitch of a note by a half step, or semitone. For example, if you play a C note and then play C♯, the latter is slightly higher in pitch. Sharps are commonly used in various musical scales and can be found in both major and minor keys.
In written music, sharps are indicated at the beginning of a piece in the key signature or can appear next to individual notes throughout the score. This alteration affects how musicians interpret and perform the music, allowing for a wider range of expression and tonal variation.
