Sh2-125
Sh2-125 is a bright emission nebula located in the constellation of Cassiopeia. It is part of a larger complex of star-forming regions and is known for its striking appearance, which is primarily due to the ionization of gas by nearby hot stars. The nebula is approximately 2,500 light-years away from Earth.
This nebula is also associated with the Sh2 catalog, which is a collection of HII regions compiled by astronomer Sidney van den Bergh. Sh2-125 is particularly interesting to astronomers studying stellar formation and the dynamics of interstellar gas. Its vibrant colors and structure make it a popular target for both amateur and professional astrophotographers.
