Sh2-106
Sh2-106, also known as Sharpless 2-106, is a bright emission nebula located in the constellation Cygnus. It is approximately 2,000 light-years away from Earth and is part of a larger molecular cloud complex. The nebula is notable for its striking colors and intricate structure, which are the result of ionized gas and dust interacting with nearby stars.
The nebula is home to a young star, HD 211853, which is responsible for much of the ionization in the region. This star is still in the process of forming and is surrounded by a disk of gas and dust. Sh2-106 is an excellent example of stellar formation and the dynamic processes occurring in our galaxy.
