Severnyaya Zemlya
Severnyaya Zemlya is an archipelago located in the Arctic Ocean, north of Siberia, Russia. It is the northernmost group of islands in the Russian Arctic and consists of several islands, including Komsomolets Island, which is the largest. The archipelago is known for its harsh climate, with ice and snow covering much of its surface throughout the year.
Discovered in the early 20th century, Severnyaya Zemlya was first explored by Georgy Brusilov in 1913. The islands are largely uninhabited, with only a few research stations present. The region is significant for its unique Arctic ecosystems and is part of the Russian Arctic National Park.
