Serbian Kingdom
The Serbian Kingdom was a medieval state that emerged in the 12th century, primarily in the region of the Balkans. It reached its peak during the reign of Stefan Dušan in the 14th century, when it expanded significantly, encompassing parts of modern-day Greece, Albania, and North Macedonia. The kingdom was known for its cultural and political achievements, including the establishment of the Serbian Orthodox Church.
After the death of Stefan Dušan in 1355, the kingdom faced internal strife and external pressures, particularly from the Ottoman Empire. By the late 15th century, the Serbian Kingdom had largely fallen under Ottoman control, marking the end of its independence. Despite this, the legacy of the kingdom continues to influence Serbian culture and identity today.
