Sensory Representation
Sensory representation refers to how our brain processes and interprets information received from our senses, such as sight, sound, touch, taste, and smell. This process allows us to understand and interact with the world around us by creating mental images or concepts based on sensory input. For example, when we see a red apple, our brain recognizes its color, shape, and texture, forming a representation of the apple in our mind.
Different areas of the brain are responsible for processing various types of sensory information. For instance, the visual cortex handles visual stimuli, while the auditory cortex processes sounds. These representations help us make sense of our environment, enabling us to respond appropriately to different situations, such as avoiding danger or enjoying a delicious meal.
